Description: Sound (English), b&w, 16min. Prominent British actor Leo Genn fulfills the ambition of many a soldier who fought in World War II: 5 years after war's end he goes back to visit the nations he helped liberate. Talking to the citizens of Italy, Austria, Germany, Greece and Denmark, he finds that with Marshall Plan help, they are busy rebuilding their cities, homes and lives. A useful, somewhat routine survey, but Genn's observations are not trite. For example, "Why rebuild Germany after all the misery Germans caused? Because it is still the factory of Europe." 1950. Produced by Terry Ashwood, Associated British Pathe Ltd, London, for ECA U.K.
