A live sound record of President Trumanís speech to Congress in 1951 advocating acceptance of the Mutual Security Act, with substantial sections of his speech illustrated by scenes of economic and defense activit within America and the Marshall Plan aid countries." (Description from the 1954 MP films catalogue for the film of this title used as part of of the STRENGTH FOR THE FREE WORLD series.) R1 of the IWMFVA film: Unedited version of President Truman's speech. Various takes of parts of the speech, including re-takes, false starts and errors. President Truman does not look directly at the camera, and is shot in various degrees of close-up. R2: Warner Pathe "News Flash" entitled "PRESIDENT SPEAKS ON FOREIGN AID," Truman's speech to the nation: an edited, two-minute newsreel version of the footage on R1. Includes cutaways showing a line of newsreel cameramen and radio reporters with their equipment. Without further research, it is not possible to say whether any of the footage in this copy was used in the SFW series film.
