Description: Sound (English), b&w, 12 min. The story of natural gas in Italy and its development as supported by a "foreign aid program bringing aid to Italy." This film shows the sinking of new oil wells in the Pozzo, Italy, oil fields, a refinery in operation (the narrator tells about natural gas coming out of the wells), workers laying pipes, an animated map of the Cortemaggiore fields with lines going out to villages, the operation of a tire factory and steel and rolling mills, and the construction of a new electric generating plant. (Although this is not included in any Marshall Plan film catalogues, the possibility of its being created by ECA is strengthened by its inclusion in the "111-MSA" series now at NARA. It might be a renamed version of ITALY'S POWERHOUSE, a film included in the December 1, 1951, catalogue of films by ECA Italy. No copies of a film by this name are known to exist.) NARA ref. copy: VT.
